Research Interests and Expertise

I use both quantitative and qualitative techniques to deepen our understanding of human development, particularly considering the impact of siblings on academic and social outcomes of children and adults, and the role of schools and families on educational and life-span transitions. I have collected and analyzed data from China, Guatemala, Korea, and, of course, the U.S. Recently, I have studied school reform in the U.S., particularly examining the relationship between parent satisfaction and school choice.
